Ushers Duties
As an usher, your role will involve supporting the best man to help the day run smoothly. Typical duties include:
- Helping with parking and providing umbrellas to guests in the event of rain
- Handing out the orders of service & buttonholes (if applicable)
- Greeting guests and directing them to their seats – bride’s family to the left of the aisle, groom’s family to the right.
- Escorting elderly or disabled guests to their seat
- Escorting the mother of the bride to her seat when the other guests are seated
- Ensuring the route is clear for the arrival of the bride
- Ensuring guests know how to get to the reception and that everyone has transport
- Helping to gather up guests for the official photos
- Managing the number of guests at the receiving line to prevent a queue but maintaining a constant flow
- Encouraging guests onto the dance floor
- Lining up guests to say goodbye to the bride & groom when they leave
- Helping to ensure that everyone has transport home at the end of the evening
- Supporting the best man in his duties.
