What to Wear

The key men (groom, best man, ushers and fathers of the bride and groom) traditionally wear matching or co-ordinating outfits. These are usually hired for the event but you may be asked to wear your own suit with co-ordinating colours.

It is common nowadays for everyone to pay for their own hire. Whilst the groom may pay for the suit hire – it is something that you should expect to pay for.

If the suits are to be hired, measurements will need to be taken approximately two months before the wedding. The best man will usually organise the fittings and will let you know where and when you need to get fitted.

The best man will normally collect and return all the suits before and after the wedding. If you do need to collect your own suit – try it on to make sure it fits and that the suit is complete. It could be too late if you don’t check until you get home or on the day itself.

Buttonholes are small flowers worn by the male attendants and any key male guests. The flowers should be positioned upright through the button hole on the left lapel and fixed in place with a pin through the back of the lapel. If these are provided, the Ushers are responsible for handing these out.
