Wedding Stationery
The type of stationery you choose will probably depend on your budget and whether you choose to buy or make your own wedding stationery.
If you want to save money consider making your own wedding stationary and invites
Wedding stationery usually refers to ‘save the date’ cards, invitations, RSVP cards, order of service/order of the day, menu cards, seating plans, place cards, cake boxes and thank you cards.
Before deciding what wedding stationery you need, it’s worth considering the following:
- type of wedding stationery – do you want something simple or detailed? Do you want every kind of stationery and does it need to match? What you decide will ultimately depend on cost and time. Before making any decisions – look around to get ideas and inspiration!
- cost – wedding stationery isn’t cheap, especially if you want a unique or classy design. Keep an eye on costs and consider what stationery you really need. If you fancy being a bit creative, or saving some money – consider making your own wedding stationery.
- time – if you want to save money and make your own, consider how long it will take. Unless you choose a simple design, you may find you’ve bitten off more than you can chew!
- postage – the amount, size and weight of your stationery will affect the amount of postage you have to pay which won’t be cheap!
When choosing your wedding stationery, you’ll be spoilt for choice with a wide selection of wedding stationery providers. It can get very expensive though, especially if you want every kind of stationery. If you want to save money consider making your own, buying pre-printed invites where you just fill in your name or get them printed with a printing or photo company. If you think ‘outside the box’ and remove the word ‘wedding’ – you might be able to get cards at half the price! - If you order bespoke printed stationery, make sure you check the proofs to ensure there are no mistakes. Imagine if the date was wrong and no one noticed!
- Order your wedding stationery 1-2 months before you need it, to allow for any delays to printing or postage.
