Cancelling or Postponing your Wedding

If for some unfortunate reason you have to cancel or postpone the wedding you should notify your guests as soon as possible to prevent them paying out any unnecessary expense. Last minute cancellations or postponements should be made by telephone.

If you are postponing the wedding but have yet to set a new date, a note should be sent stating that a new date has yet to be set. You can then follow up with the details at a later date.

Notifications should be sent to all those who have been invited - not just the guests who have replied. Whether you choose to include the reason is entirely your own choice. The best advice is to keep your notifications simple but don’t forget to include the RSVP if you re-arrange the date.

Example wording if you cancel the wedding
