Questions to Ask

The cost of wedding transport will vary depending on what is included in the price. Asking the right questions will ensure you get the best value for your money and don't get caught out.

To help you out, we've put together a list of the kind of questions you should ask before booking your wedding transport.

  • How much space will there be for your dress? (This is a common fear of most brides although the majority of wedding cars can accommodate most dresses).
  • What is included in the price? Are there any extra costs?
  • What is the duration of the hire period?
  • Can you hire for additional hours and at what cost?
  • What is the minimum rental time?
  • If champagne is not included in the cost, how much extra would this cost? Do you have the option to provide your own?
  • Do they offer a discount if you order more than one car?
  • Can you book one car to do two journeys - i.e to take bridesmaids & mother of the bride to the ceremony before the bride? If so, are there any limitations to this?
  • Will they wait for the bride & groom to have their pictures taken with the car providing it is if within the specified hire period?
  • Are there any decorations included such as ribbon on the car? Or is this something you need to pay extra for? Do you get a choice of ribbon colour?
  • What will the chauffeur wear?
  • Will the chauffeur help you get in and out of your car with your dress and veil? Do they have experience of this?
  • Do they provide umbrellas if it starts to rain?
  • Is the car waterproof?
  • Are there any circumstances where you might provide a different vehicle on the day? If so, what are they?
  • Will the car be clean before it makes the first pick up?
  • If the car breaks down, do they have a back-up car? If so, what is the procedure? (This is especially important if you hire a vintage car)
  • Will you provide us with a number to contact the driver if there is an emergency on the day?
  • Will the car be used for another wedding that day? You don't want to risk your driver being in a rush to get to the next wedding.
  • Can we come and see the car in advance?
  • Are their cars owned or rented?
  • Is the car insured to carry guests for weddings? Do they have public liability cover?
  • What are their refund and cancellation policies?

nofreetime tips

  • Always try and see the car in advance of your booking. A car might look great in the pictures but that might have been a few years ago.
  • If you're not getting married on a Saturday or in the peak of summer, try and negotiate a discounted rate (if not already offered).
  • Make sure the rest of the wedding party are aware that they need to make their own transport arrangements.
