Be Prepared

It’s likely that the bride has done most of the organising – but there are some things that only the groom can organise. To make sure you’re well prepared for your big day, remember to do the following:

  • Have a copy of the day’s schedule with you and be familiar with the timings
  • Check the best man has the rings
  • Check the best man has organised transport to get you to the venue and knows how to get there
  • Have a copy of your speech. Give another copy to someone else – just in case you lose it!
  • Have all thank you gifts packed
  • Money for any emergencies or last minute payments on the day that might be required – e.g bar, DJ or musicians
  • Have all luggage packed for your honeymoon. Don’t forget passports, tickets, insurance and other documents! If you’re going on honeymoon straight from the venue, you’ll need to arrange for your luggage to be packed and locked in the car taking you to airport.
  • If you’re staying somewhere for your first night – arrange for your overnight bags to be taken to the hotel or packed and locked in the car taking you at the end of the evening.
  • Car keys (if you need them for going away after the wedding)
  • Check the best man knows he need to return the suits after the wedding
  • Don’t forget your buttonholes and find out where they will be delivered on the day.
