Ushers Duties

As an usher, your role will involve supporting the best man to help the day run smoothly. Typical duties include:

  • Helping with parking and providing umbrellas to guests in the event of rain
  • Handing out the orders of service & buttonholes (if applicable)
  • Greeting guests and directing them to their seats – bride’s family to the left of the aisle, groom’s family to the right.
  • Escorting elderly or disabled guests to their seat
  • Escorting the mother of the bride to her seat when the other guests are seated
  • Ensuring the route is clear for the arrival of the bride
  • Ensuring guests know how to get to the reception and that everyone has transport
  • Helping to gather up guests for the official photos
  • Managing the number of guests at the receiving line to prevent a queue but maintaining a constant flow
  • Encouraging guests onto the dance floor
  • Lining up guests to say goodbye to the bride & groom when they leave
  • Helping to ensure that everyone has transport home at the end of the evening
  • Supporting the best man in his duties.
